Gremlin Chassis System
The Gremlin takes many of the features that made the Gizmo so effective in RCMCCA class 1 and adapts a few of them to make it a class 2 juggernaut.
This chassis is meant to be used with forward aggressive geometry, and even has a recommended specialty link length. This link combination is very similar in overall wheelbase as a SCX24 Gladiator or Power Wagon, but the front links are shorter and rear links are longer. With this link geometry combined with a 20 degree skid angle, the Gremlin has as much clearance as is possible without running a carrier bearing (carrier bearings are not RCMCCA C2 legal).
I now provide team spec sliders as the default slider for all chassis. If you would like geometry specific sliders please go check out the slider page, they are still a dollar a set.
The kit features:
2 Gremlin chassis rails
Minimal footprint center skid
Team Spec sliders
1 low front velcro body mount
1 low rear velcro body mount
Does not come with hardware
I recommend picking up a pack of tiny nuts for mounting upper links if you do not have them.
Recommended parts for the Gremlin:
-3 link geometries are recommended for this chassis: Gremlin (41mm front, 88mm rear), Gladiator and Deadiator. The Gremlin links were specifically designed for this chassis but both of the other two have attributes that would benefit this chassis.
-Short front shocks such as Proline Big Bore scalers, Amazon internal spring shocks 32-34mm, or stock oil shocks.
-Medium travel rear shocks such as Injora Big Bore 40mm shocks.
-If using a standard transmission, a pancake style motor such as Mini Komodo if you want a forward facing brushless setup, otherwise your motor may contact the rear of your servo.
-Metal gladiator and deadbolt drive shaft sets. This will give you all the drive shafts you need to build regardless of motor orientation on trans.
- +5/6mm wider axles at a minimum such as TiTs or Meus Iso. I also really like running a wider axle in the front than the rear to clear gates easier. Meus front and stock rear with a plus 2mm hex or super 8 front with meus iso rear for example.
Notes:
-This is an advanced chassis kit that requires a solid understanding of the general principles of SCX24 geometry to build.
-If running a brushless motor rear facing with a flipped scx24 transmission, the output shaft of the transmission the front drive shaft connects to will be further away. You will need to use a deadbolt female and c10 male driveshaft end. The c10 male end will need to be trimmed a few millimeters to fit properly. This is normal when flipping a standard design transmission backwards, but of significant note.
-It is strongly recommended that this chassis be paired with the Gremlin V2 Hybrid outboard links, but the chassis is compatible with Gladiator and Deadiator link geometries as well. If you use other link geometries, it will be up to you to bend your rear upper links if you choose to run them outboard.
-All printed materials will be made of PETG-CF.
-Please take your time and pre tap all holes before beginning to install parts.
