NerdLab Chassis Kit- Wonderland Series
THE STORY:
NerdLab has been excitedly working for a few months on this drop. It came with some of the largest risks NerdRC has ever taken, most notably from an artistic standpoint. When deciding what to do for this release all I could think was, "how in the hell am I going to follow this Paisley release?!" First I decided that I needed to know more about titanium finishing and coloring. Then I realized that a multicolor NerdLab release would give me the most understanding. What in the world do I do with a multicolor NerdLab drop? Alice in Wonderland, thats what. They turned out amazing.
THE PROCESS:
Starting with 20 sets of Gr5 titanium rails for each of chassis in production, 60 total chassis were finished to the slippery round edged surfaces my titanium is known for. Then each rail set was fade anodized as I recorded every voltage and named each color pattern. I was left with ONE chassis in 20 different color patterns across all three. The Wonderland Series artwork on the chassis rails was all hand drawn. I gave the artist one instruction- Wonderland, but dark-ish; he delivered. The chassis rails were engraved once again locally in the Denver area. I then made all the plastics in a wood PLA.
THE WONDERLAND TWIST:
Alice didn't know what she was getting into as she fell further and further down the rabbit hole. You can see the chassis type, the serial, the name of the color pattern, but not the actual chassis. All chassis are pictured, it is your guess which color pattern you get. The single kit pictured is the ProtoStripe kit and foreshadows the next part.
THE CRAZY JUMP:
I took a large step for my business and the NerdLab ended up with its own laser. I am going to offer a color matched and engraved transmission as well as faded links as options. You will only be able to get these items at the time of purchase, so if you want the full setup you see in the ProtoStripe kit make sure to choose the link and transmission options.
THE SETUP:
-Each will have 2 matching NerdLab rails and corresponding plastics (skid, sliders, unicorn mount braces, trays, bumpers and carrier where applicable), a NerdLab sticker, and velcro.
-Gadget transmission option will add a color matched transmisison with color matched skids and spacer. You will be able to choose gearing between standard and 21% faster gearing. This is an additional fee and will be added to your total.
-The Link option will add a set of links of your choice, anodized to match the chassis and transmission color. This is an additional fee and will be added to your total.
NOTE: I expect this to be a busy drop and all the chassis sets are completed and packaged. I have never had an influx of potentially 60 transmissions and link sets to anodize/build. Please expect these options to slow shipping for what I assume to be 2-4 weeks.
